Success!!

Two weeks ago Micah suddenly begin going to his potty and using it all by himself without being asked to. He did it several times that day and the next day too. Terry and I were so excited! So the next day, Thanksgiving, we carried his little Elmo potty around everywhere we went and took him to use it every 20 minutes or so.

He didn't use it once.

Our whole goal with this potty training bit has been to get by with as little actual training as possible. We bought the potty, a potty book, and a potty video. We introduced him to the idea and struggled to get him to go in it once. Once he did we made sure we were excited so that he knew what the whole point was.

Then we convienently forgot about it and let him go at random. I think it's his current nude stage that actually succeeded in training him. Since he runs around naked 75% of the time now, he's actually started using the potty on a regular basis. The trick is not to ask him or remind him to go. And once you see him wander over to the potty avert your eyes till he's done. Then commence jumping up and down and high-fives!

Last night he actually did #2 in it too! So, incredibly enough, looks like we didn't have to do too much to get him trained. Just give him the right tools!
