Craft Time!

When we moved into our current place a year ago, we knew that it was likely that our third bedroom would end up being a nursery before we moved out. But I was insistant that in the meantime, we painted it a soothing brown to make a comfy home office for me.

So, now Caleb's nursery has a mocha backdrop. When it came time to choose bedding and a theme for the room, for some reason, I just wasn't into it. So, I opted for a white crib skirt, white polkadot curtains, and then I assumed my "decorating" was done.

But for the last several months I've had spurts of "craftiness" that have resulted in various miscellaneous (not to mention mis-matching) decorations for the nursery. I'm not fooling myself into thinking that they look anything but homemade, but honestly, if I could do it again, I would! It was a lot of fun and way cheaper than buying stuff. Here's some pictures. Pretty sparse, but decorated with love!

That's our new baby monitor on the little table. It's perfect because it shows the temperature in the room. This room is ALWAYS colder than the rest of this house, and I love that this monitor helps us regulate Caleb's temp. (Terry picked it, so I don't know what kind it is. But I can find out if anyone wants to know.)
See my diaper bag hanging on the doorknob? I love it! Micah's had a cloth exterior and an ice pack popped in it and leaked blue fluid all over it. So when I saw this one with the glossy exterior, I had to have it. Should make it easy to wipe down. The inside of it is bright yellow which is so cheery!

This was my first craft. I'm hoping the bright colors and patterns against the brown background will give Caleb a lot to look at as his eyesight develops.

Hard to see in the picture, but this says, "Caleb."

I'm a HUGE fan of these colorful storage boxes. I used baby blue colored ones in Micah's nursery and he still keeps his toys in them today. I've got one bin packed with diapers, pacifiers, wipes, aspirator, lotion, hat, socks, and burp cloths. This box will be a lifesaver for us during Caleb's first few weeks. We'll carry it from room to room with us so we have everything we need to care for him close at hand. I did this last time and it was a big help. Especially when I was hunkered down nursing and didn't want to have to get up to get something I needed from the nursery. These particular bins are on sale at Walmart right now. 2 for $7.

Terry thinks these glitter stars are girly. I added the playful ribbons to detract from the glitter...but I'm not really liking them, so I might untie them.

I love it! Homemade is the way to go! Caleb has a unique nursery that you can't find a Babies R Us! I love love love the stars! Way cool. I think its pretty gender neutral too so if you needed to use it again it can be for a boy and girl!

You're good, Mrs. Domino! I like the "modern nursery" look. ADORABLE! (And "manly"...you know...if Caleb asks.)
