Caleb turned 5 months old yesterday!
A lot has happened since I last whined blogged about having a difficult time with Caleb. If you prayed for us, thank you so much! Caleb has since taken a bottle without protest, actually opened his mouth to at least attempt rice cereal (I decided to add a bit of formula powder to it to get him used to the taste of formaula in case we wean from bf soon), and he's sleeping a bit better! If you prayed for us- THANK YOU and keep it up!
Party Time!
One day I was playing with Caleb and I started singing the Vengaboys song "We Like To Party" in my head. And it stuck; Caleb is now officially my 'party boy.' He likes anything that's abrupt, rough-and-tumble, and fast-paced. He is a party boy! I actually got out of breath one night playing peek-a-boo with him. He was on the changing table and I'd back to the other side of the room and squat, then silently walk closer to the table before I'd pop up and say BOO! Micah joined the game and eventually I was carrying Micah while I awkwardly squat-waddled across the room below Caleb's eyeline and then thrust Micah into the air so he could say boo. We were rewarded by uproarous giggles and shrieks.
Which is why it's extra odd that we've discovered we can get him to spend more time in his swing, bouncy chair, exersaucer, etc. by NOT turning anything on. He is easily over-stimulated and can't stand the music on these chairs, hates to actually swing in his swing (he's rather sit still), and prefers peace and quiet in his exersaucer so he can concentrate on gumming the toys or eating his fists.
Micah has been into parties himself lately. For the last few months he's been throwing parties in his room. He'll put all of his stuffed animals on his bed and then give each of them a book. He calls this a party. Sometimes Terry and I are invited to the party, sometimes not. When we do get to come, we have to play by the rules and silently read our book until our host decides it's time to switch and get new books. While I'm guessing this kind of party would not swing it in Caleb's world, I, personally, think a reading party sounds awesome!
And here are some photos of my boys having a music party...
