I was twelve weeks yesterday, so just 6 slow more days to go until I'm officially in my second trimester. This pregnancy is so different than the last one. I've already mentioned that I feel sicker this time around, but it's more than that.
I checked out one of those silly "Is it a Boy or Is it a Girl?" quizzes and this time my answers point to girl. Last time I took the same quiz and my answers were affirmative for boy. Could there be some validity to this quiz? I hear a lot of people say they could tell a difference in their pregnancies depending on the sex of the baby.
I have only one of the symptoms the quiz associates with boys: dry hands. And hey, that could just be winter. But, if I look back at my results to the same answers when I was carrying Micah, 12 of them were yes! And this time, 10 of the answers to the girl questions are yes. Here are some of the differences:
Last time my morning sickness was very brief and it came and went quickly with just a few waves during the day that I could suppress with food.
This time morning sickness was fierce and hung around day and night.
Last time I craved salty foods and ate entire jars of Buffalo Sauce.
This time all I seem to want is sweet foods: fruit, ice cream and chocolate cake.
The shape of my stomach at this point last time was lower (I went back and checked out old pics).
This time it's higher.
Then there are three things on the girl quiz that I'd noted was happening to me before today and I was surprised to see them mentioned.
Moodier than usual. (Oh, boy is this dead on!)
Face is breaking out more.
And oddly enough, red highlights are appearing in my hair.
Who knew these random traits pointed to carrying a girl? Well, I won't find out for another 6-8 weeks, so until then it's all speculation. I will, of course, keep you in the loop!
