Every year we have family over to carve pumpkins. The kids paint mini pumpkins and decorate cookies. I did an awful job at taking photos this time around. All I got was mostly the tops of heads as kids bent over their cookies or pumpkins.
About an hour before people showed up Micah asked when we were going to decorate for Halloween. Terry and I chuckled as we pointed out the many decorations that had been out for a few weeks. Micah decided that wasn't enough festivity. So he pulled out orange and green paper and colored pumpkins, spiders and ghosts. It's when he has the awareness to do things like this that I'm so impressed with him! He's getting so big!
Caleb, Micah, Luke (and Grandpa David) enjoying painting their cookies and drinking their milk.
Terry really enjoys carving pumpkins so he hunkered down early and got to work on the headless horseman.
We were bummed that Aunt Kelly and Aunt Laura and their families weren't able to come. But it was nice to have my cousin Jon, his wife Jess, and their sweet, sweet boy Dane join us.
Told you I didn't get many good pictures. Even when I get close to getting a "Caleb smile" he suddenly improvs a game of Peek-a-boo!
And another top of the head... Micah working hard on his pumpkin. He loves the color red so when he was done painting he'd actually created a very Halloween appropriate pumpkin- it looked all bloody!
Caleb kept wanting to eat his paint...
Without Eileen, Adriah was the only girl there. She can normally hold her own with any boys but I think she was overwhelmed that day. She liked the caramel apples, though!
Mel brought this weird mask and we all tried it on. I didn't take pics of anyone wearing it. But Micah is so big now that at one point he turned on the camera and snapped some shots. So we do have this one pic of the creepy mask.
This is my pumpkin, Mel's, and Terry's.
(Side note- so you might be wondering why Micah's hair is so short in the photos from the last few posts. Well...
Totally my fault!
I was cutting it a while back. I used a blade guard to cut the top, moved to a shorter blade to cut the sides and back. Then switched to no blade to even it out on his neck. I've cut his and Terry's hair a lot before and I'm not the best, but I can do an ok job (especially now that Micah sits still!). So I've got no blade on the razor and I finish his neck then stand back to look over my work and make sure it's straight. I see a longer spot on the top of his head so I reach forward to snip a little more off that area... but I'd forgotten than I didn't have any blade on the razor anymore! So he suddenly had one giant bald spot on his head! Oops! Of course I couldn't leave him with a hole on his head so I evened it all out. Fortunately for us he thought he looked cool and it didn't bother him at all! I'm glad it's finally growing out though! His hair is so hard to manage. I think we're gonna let it grow out now...)
