Pain

Odd to be excited by pain, but when it's a sign of impending labor and delivery, it's nothing but thrilling!

I've had some pain and pressure in what my doctor calls my "pelvic floor" which kind of feels like you've been kicked in the crotch until it bruised. But, the truly exciting part is that the ligaments in my pelvic area have started popping out of place. I remember this happening in the final weeks with Micah too, so I'm gosh darn thrilled that we're closing in on Caleb's birthday!

The funniest pain comes from Caleb's kicks. I've heard of women getting cracked ribs from babies kicks, and I finally understand how that could happen. Caleb has planted himself inside, behind, beneath, basically all around my rib cage. And the reason that's funny is because I can be lying, sitting, standing completely still and then jump a mile high because Caleb's foot has found a tender rib. It makes us laugh every time it happens. Well maybe not when it happens in a quiet church.

So with the numbers (I've got 6 weeks till my due date) and the pain both pointing towards the end of my pregnancy, I've started to wonder what the next year will bring.

It's one of the reasons I love that I've kept up with my blog. When I look back at posts during Micah's first year, they all revolve around his milestones, his growth, and lots and lots of pictures. Things changed during his second year. He stopped growing so quickly and life started being less about just keeping him alive and more about parenting. Which led me to my current introspective phase. It's fun to see it written down in black and white-- being a mom changed my views on family, politics, marriage, God, life. Wonder what the next year will be?

A picture since it's been a while since I added one...
Gotta love my tough guys bruised knee and scratched legs!
