"Now I'm Going to the Potty, Potty!"

Micah had a Potty Party on Monday night.

He unwrapped a book about potty training.

Then he unwrapped what has now become his favorite movie. Once Upon A Potty. It is hysterical and slightly creepy. Here's the Youtube link. You've GOT to watch it.

And if you haven't seen enough after that, check out the Potty Song that is shown on the right at the above link. It plays after the cartoon part of Once Upon A Potty and Micah can't get enough of it. It's catchy lyrics inspired this blog title and also include some classics: "Wee-wee goes here. Poo-poo goes here!"

That got Micah excited and then we let him open his very own Elmo potty!

So far he's been wandering around the house in just a shirt about 70% of the day. Once he pees, we say, "Look at that! You peepeed on the floor! Next time try to do it in the potty!" And that's about the whole extent of training we've done so far. We're just trying to get him to understand the feeling he gets before he goes to the bathroom. And of course, trying to get him to like his potty.

We've got a little magnetic board that is intended to be a reward system for him. He uses the toilet and then he puts a magnet on the board. But, we made it a "potty game" that he can only play with while he sits on the potty. So, he'll bring us the game and before we open it he has to go sit on the potty first.

The actual potty we chose has been helpful, too. When you push Elmo's hand it says 10 different encouraging phrases. And we've told Micah he can only push it when he's on the potty and so far it's worked. He likes his potty, he just doesn't quite understand what he's supposed to do WITH the potty. But, if he keeps watching Once Upon A Potty, I don't know how he won't catch on! It's pretty educational, huh? Hee!

HAHAHAHAHAHA! That reminds me, Erin was so stubborn that Mom ended up bribing her with Reeses Pieces to get her to go to the bathroom. And it totally worked right away. Probably not the way you want to train Micah...with sugar...but I think my Mom was desperate with a kid like Erin. ;)
