Jokes on Me

Micah didn't understand why the Thanksgiving that we celebrate doesn't have anything to do with the first Thanksgiving. He was confused by the fact that there's not really an activity associated with Thanksgiving. Just pigging out. :) So in an effort to get him excited and feel involved we headed to the book store.

Not to get books on Pilgrims and Indians, but instead, to let him choose a child's cook book. He picked a Dora and Diego one and I told him we'd spend the month of November practicing some of the dishes and then he could pick his favorite one to cook for Thanksgiving.

The first thing he made was delicious tortilla soup (with swimming goldfish crackers!) and I was confused when he drew up a score card, rated the dish a "0" and wrote, "I don lik it." Eventually I realized that he was going to rate everything we made as a "0" because he had his eye on a certain dish... A castle cake.

So, we gave it our best shot. I smoothed most of the icing and did the small m&ms, but this was mostly Micah's creation. He was so proud! And Caleb was so excited to eat it!

I love this for several reasons. First of all, did he have to make two of these? Second, he is way too smart-slash-manipulative with his 0 rating system! haha! It turned out really good though, and that gray was a nice manly choice.

I love the idea of baking all month with his kid-friendly book. Cute! But that kid is way too smart with that rating system! You're in trouble, mama!
