Zoo Boo 2011

We got together with the Barsch's again for Zoo Boo last weekend. It was a lot of fun. My camera ran out of battery power about 3 minutes into the day. So I'm stealing all of Aunt Kelly's pics here!
Last year we didn't wear costumes because of Micah's Captain Hook coat (too hot for Houston October) so the boys died their hair. And Micah talked all year long about dying it again. Only last minute did he decide to wear his costume. He is Wolverine, Caleb is a football player, and Eileen wore a cutie patootie Halloween dress.

Micah's favorite is always the Kimodo (sp?) Dragons. This time around, the scaly lizard was very into Caleb. Their noses were nearly touching. It made me think of Harry Potter when the glass disappears and Dudley falls into the snake exhibit. Stay back, Caleb!!

Since I'm with the kids all week, it's kind of an unspoken rule that during weekend excursions, Terry takes the primary role of watching the kids. It's good for them to get to be with Dad and it's nice for me to tune down the "Mommy-dial" just a bit. I like being a spectator instead of always rule-enforcer. Plus, you get great pics, like this one...

Kelly and Kyle bought food for the kids to feed the giraffes. Lucky for Micah and Caleb that they have a generous Aunt and Uncle. 'Cause their cheap-o parents never would have paid for this extra bit of fun!

I went to get drinks for us while these guys all waited in the giraffe line. I was shocked when I saw, from afar, both boys feed the giraffe! Considering that a few weeks ago they were both too scared to feed Jenna and Charlea's goats at the fair, this was a pretty big deal!

Micah and Eileen rode the merry go round. Caleb won't ride anything with a motor, so he stayed behind. Micah, of course, chose the wolf, since he was Wolverine!

Eileen tilted her head and made this smile every single time she circled in front of Kelly. It was so cute!

Then we headed to the Pirates Cove!

And then the guys stopped to play poker with some Skeletons.

Click on the picture above so you can see it up close. The look Micah's giving the skeleton is hilarious!

I refuse to go in the underground gopher tunnels, so Terry took the boys and they popped up to say hello.
I'm always amazed to see that this lion water fountain is still around.

By this point the sun was starting to feel a little too hot. So our pumpkin patch time was pretty short.

And the kids were all approaching melt-down mode!

But, you can always count on Caleb for a smile!

While waiting to purchase train tickets I saw Susan, Russel, Billie, Jenna, and Charlea. And I ran, yes, ran after them. I'd misjudged how far away they were though. I felt like a fool running after them!
It was really weird to see them because I am almost 100% sure that the last time I rode the train at the zoo I had a toddler Cameron in my lap! So weird!
The train ride was fun. Much longer than I remembered. Absolutely worth the money and the line!

They both fell asleep in the car. But we only let them sleep about 10 minutes because we stopped at Berry Hill to eat. They weren't upset to be woken from their naps. They'd stay up 24 hors straight if it meant they could have beans and rice and chips and salsa!

Then it was time for hugs!

That looks so fun! I especially like all of the little quirks...like how you refure to go in the gopher tunnels, Caleb refuses to ride anything with a motor, etc. Bahahaha! Love it!

Yeah I was thinking the same thing as Ashley. :) I love the pics - I don't remember all the fun pirate stuff from the Zoo Boo last year!
