Pumpkin Party 2011

This year our Pumpkin Party was a little different. I was sick (boo, indeed!), our apartment was tiiiny, and we partied on a week night.

We started with Mom's recipe for the soup that always comes to mind when Fall arrives each year.

It was Jayden's first Halloween so that made it extra special.

And it reminded me of two other very special Halloweens:
Micah in 2007

And Caleb in 2009

After dinner the cousins painted pumpkins.
And some of them painted their hands...

Check out Micah's spooky face!

Then they decorated cookies.

Look at that concentration!
Delicious!

Micah loves to decorate for parties. We asked him if he'd like to draw a spooky picture on my little white board. He wrote, "Boo said the ghost. And a {pumpkin}." He drew a picture of a pumpkin instead of writing the word. It's still up on our board because Terry and I are so proud of it! It's his first time to write a sentence on his own. Well, two sentences, really. If you don't mind counting that last sentence fragment. "And a pumpkin." (We're not sure if the ghost said "boo" and "pumpkin," or if the ghost and pumpkin both said "boo." Or maybe the ghost said "boo" and the pumpkin was just hanging out? (I hate that I didn't notice that my flash ruined the photo below...)

Micah was too busy eating to pose for a photo.

Caleb was already in a "cookie coma" so I got this er, lovely, shot of the 2 of us.

And then Micah gave up on decorating and just sucked the icing straight out of the bag.

Terry and Kelly carved pumpkins too. Terry is mimicking Micah in this picture. Micah didn't want to smile for any pics that night. Hey, I don't blame him, Halloween is a serious thing!

Terry was obnoxiously proud of his carvings. He did three:

And I free-handed this one. It was supposed to just be decorative with little paisley-inspired swirls. Instead, I'm pretty sure it just says, "69 69 69 69" all over it. And Micah said my "Welcome" looks like, "Helcome." So, there you go.

The pumpkin party, as always, was a blast!
...And a pumpkin.

This post made me laugh for so many reasons. I love it that you are such a grammar nerd.

I, too, was laughing hard. Between Caleb's cookie-coma face and Micah's very scary/serious face, there was lots to laugh at. You, my dear, look REALLY good. I'm still jealous of your hair and wish I could pull off the pixie look.
