Caleb is One Year Old

My baby is one year old. It's been a whirlwind! He had his 12 month check up and is doing excellent. About 65% in height and 25% in weight. He's been taking two or three steps at a time now and today he took 5! He'll be walking by the end of the weekend. So exciting!

He's a very energetic and spunky kid. He'll climb on any and everything! I've got to watch him so closely or he'll be on top of the couch, ottoman, table and even inside the dishwasher! Yep, inside! If I'm loading or unloading dishes and walk away for a second to do something else, he sees the open door as an invitation and he climbs right in.

Because of all that's been going on, I've started to think of him as a youngest child instead of a middle child. He and Micah are very good buddies at this age. Meaning Micah beats Caleb up and Caleb ignores him as best he can. I keep telling Micah that if he's mean to his baby brother now, that Caleb will remember it when he gets older and he'll start to fight back!

They can reach each other from their car seats now, so they mess with each other and play games. It's nice to hear giggling coming from the back seat. If Caleb is playing in another room, Micah doesn't like it and he immediately goes to get Caleb so they can play together.

Caleb's favorite thing to do in his bedroom is pull all of his shirts out of the drawer. I've given up any hope of keeping them folded. If he looks wrinkled, that's why!

He's got 6 teeth, lots of hair, a silly smile, and a loud whine. He likes to clap, turn off the light, and play the drums or bang loudly.

He says Mama, Dada, More (Mmuh). Those are the only three words in his reportoire. He kind of says "uh-oh." When he drops something he makes an "O" shape with his mouth but no sound comes out. He can shake his head no. He still loves to point and that's how he requests (demands) things.

He loooooves Micah's Stitch stuffed animal. From Lilo and Stitch. When we do our night-time routine of getting the boys in pjs and reading to them, Caleb will not sit still until we get Stitch off the shelf so he can play with him.

He is still very tactile. Which means he's still a crazy messy eater. Even if we feed him and put the food directly in his mouth, he won't swallow it until he spits it back out and plays with it in his hands first.

He's a pretty fun kid. We really are blessed beyond belief!
