Ick! Sick! SIck!

Both boys got a nasty cold a few weeks ago. We went through tissues like crazy and Caleb learned to run and hide when he saw us get the aspirator out. We were slathering vaseline under their noses because their little faces were rubbed raw after such long colds. They cried everytime we came near them with tissues!

Then Micah had a major meltdown last Sunday morning which kept me and him from making it to church. Later that night he had a low grade fever. And over the next six days it got higher and higher. But, in typical Micah fashion, he didn't act sick at all except for being extra sleepy.

But Thursday morning Caleb came down with his brother's symptoms, and it was a totally different story! Unlike Micah, Caleb is a clingy invalid. He cried and cried (and is still crying today, Sunday. We're praying tomorrow brings a temp-free day.) and wanted to be held all day. It killed my back to carry him so much Thursday, so Friday I planned a slow-paced day and I mostly sat on the couch and cuddled my sad, whining baby. He isn't a snuggler at all, so having him fall asleep curled up on me was kind of nice. Also unlike Micah, Motrin AND Tylenol together couldn't bring down his fever so he went 2 straight days with a temp above 103.

Sick babies is one of the hardest parts of having little ones (to me, anyway). It's hard to watch them feel badly and not know how to explain to them that it will get better. It's hard to know what symptoms need a doctor, the ER, or just some extra sleep. And, I don't know if this is true for all of y'all but a long sickness always throws our kids off their schedules.

And the worst of it all has been this great weather! We haven't been able to get out and enjoy it yet! And when it snowed last week all Micah did was look out the window sadly.

(Next post will be filled with pictures. I promise! ;)

Aww poor sick little family! (off subject, but have you read Kevin Leman's book on birth order? They fit that perfectly, from what I've heard!)
