Our church service was really good this morning. The preacher spoke on Godliness and how its especially important for a mother to actually train herself to be Godly (1 Timothy 4:7-8).
He talked about how we are called, as Christians and moms, to not "conform any longer to the pattern of this world." (Romans 12:2)
We are to watch who we spend our time with in order to protect ourselves from ungodliness. "Bad company corrupts good character. Come back to your senses as you ought, and stop sinning..." (1 Corinthians 15:33-34)
As a parent I'm always thinking of Matthew 18:5-6 where it says that it would be better to be drowned than to be the reason/cause/influence that leads a child to sin.
Good thing I have so many examples of amazing, God-fearing mothers and mothering-types to look up to! Thank you to all those in my life who have shown me how to be a mom, how to live, and how to love. Your influence not only affects me, but has indirectly impacted my children. I am grateful for friends and family like you who lift me up and encourage me in my own efforts to become more and more like Jesus.
