Parenting Practice

My Boss has a 20 month old and a 7 year old (both girls) and because I work from an office on their home property, I usually get delegated some of the tasks involving the children.

I'm often dropping off homework, backpacks, or lunches at Westwood Elementary and I usually take the 20 month old to daycare at least once a week.

It's nice practice. Sarah, the younger of the two, has grown considerably in the 11 months I've been working there. She's got quite an attitude and loves to tell me no. She can also act like an elephant and give high-fives. She sure does love her t.v. There's a dvd player in their SUV and as soon as she's in her car seat she'll point to the screen and cry until you get the movie started! Her favorite is The Suite Life.

Maddy, (Madeline) the oldest sister, is a comedian and a tomboy and she loves attention. This is the conversation I had with her today after I picked her up from school and drove her to Girl Scouts:

"Domino, did you ever go to an all girl's school?"

"Nope"

"Me either. But I want to."

"Why?"

"Because boys are crazy- DUR!"

"Oh. Yeah, they are, aren't they?"

"Oh no- You don't know. You're a grown-up and you have a nice husband. But in my world, boys are totally crazy. They always want you to chase them!"

"Hm. Well, you know the ones who want you to chase them are usually the ones who like you."

"Yeah, no kidding. They all like me. I'm the only girl who has any fun."

Then she told me about the one who likes her the most- Beau. She says she kind of likes him, but she's not totally sure yet. He is pretty cool, though. I mean, after all, he broke his arm and wears a cast. And how cool is that?

:)
