We had to be at the hospital yesterday morning at 7:30 to check in for our big ultrasound. When our alarm went off, we both bounded out of bed (extremely unusual for us). We were just so excited!
Once I was in the room and we were all set to go, the technician asked if we wanted to know the sex. "Absolutely!" She said she'd be taking a lot of measurements first and then she'd get to the fun part- showing us the baby.
She measured my cervix and all that fun stuff, and then I guess she'd moved onto the baby (although you couldn't tell by looking at the monitor) because she said, "Uh-oh, this baby's got his legs squeezed together pretty tight!" I told her we were meeting 18 people for dinner who were expecting to learn the sex and so we'd better shake the baby or something, so we could get a clear shot.
Fortunately for us, Tater proved to be quite active, much to the frustration of the technician and radiologist. Every time the tech. would settle on a nice shot, and pause to point out what we were looking at, Tater would flip around, and that was the end of that. The only very obvious things that Terry and I could pick out for ourselves was the spine (which they commented was "so pretty"), the hands and feet, (all because of the bones you could see) and the face if you were looking directly at it.
Finally the tech. froze a good spot on the monitor for us and I knew immediately what we were looking at. I'd seen enough of these ultraosund pics from The Nest website and it was the exact picture I'd been wanting to see...
The tech said, pointing, "Ok, this is a leg...and this is a leg..."
And I said, "It's a boy!" Then Terry and I high-fived, which makes me laugh now, but it just seemed so appropriate at the time.
I have to admit, I shed a few tears, and from then on I was much more relaxed. She showed us all the organs and commented on how good they looked. She had quite a hard time measuring the heart because Tater was dancing so much. My doctor said later, after analyzing the results, "You just couldn't ask for a better ultrasound!"
Terry and I couldn't be happier. We're expecting a healthy baby boy.
I think Terry's already imagining little league games. I can't wait to chase our little toddler around the house. My mom wants to buy him cowboy boots, and Susan says he needs an "I Love Susan" onesie. Everyone has their different visions of what Micah Richard Domino will be, and it's so much fun playing the waiting game. I just can't wait much longer. Thankfully, the holidays should make the last 4 months move more quickly.
(Unfortunately, the ultrasound pics won't scan clearly, so we can't post them.)

I can't wait to meet Micah! I just teared up thinking about you and Terry with your baby boy and how sweet it'll be. Make sure he knows his Auntie Em loves him! ;)
