Weeks 33 and 34

I am 34 weeks and 4 days today. Here's what Micah and I have been up to during weeks 33-35.

Week 33

ME

My uterus has grown by 500 times.
I may have vivid dreams at night (Boy do I ever. Unfortunately, some of them are nightmares, too.).
The need to urinate frequently will continue to grow.

MICAH

The babe is about 16.5 inches long and weighs about 4 and a half pounds.
Vernix covering Micah's body becomes thicker to protect his skin these last few weeks.

Week 34

ME

I will experience regular Braxton-Hicks contractions (I must not be noticing these- haven't felt one).
My blood pressure may be raised slightly (It is- although only barely.).
I may notice swelling of my hands and feet edema - "Take things easy," recommends motherbliss.com. (My foot swelling has actually gone down. Will try to put up a pic this week.)

MICAH
Tater is about 17 inches long and weighs somewhere between 4.5 and 5.5 pounds.
He starts to shed almost all the lanugo (hair) on his body.
Micah is drawing calcium from me to build up his bones.
If born now, Micah would be called a pre-term infant and not premature. (Wow! Exciting!)
His little eyes respond to bright light and he is actively practicing blinking.

Week 35

ME

I will now need 200 extra calories in these last weeks.
I should try to eat small, frequent meals rather than one large meal. This will prevent heartburn.
I may begin to feel fed up about the entire affair of pregnancy and will be eager to deliver the babe. (I am getting fed up- but I usually only feel that way at night. I think the strain of the day hits me all at once.)

MICAH
Micah is about 17.3 inches long and weighs 5.5 pounds, give or take a little.
His fingernails reach the tip of his fingers and he may even have scratch marks on his face when born.
Fat deposition continues.
Tater fills most of my uterus now and feels very cramped in the limited space.

37 days and counting...
I know it doesn't mean anything, but I do feel like Micah will be a few days late at least. Hope not- don't want him born on Valentines Day.

Why don't you want him born on Valentine's Day?
