When Daddy Talks to Baby

Terry loves to talk to Tater. At first all he did was make whale noises in the general direction of my stomach. (He says he saw it on a movie, although his inability to remember which movie makes me doubtful.) Now, though, he can sit and talk for several minutes. He asks the baby if he's sucking his thumb, tells her he can't wait to hold her and kiss her cheeks, and even tells her to be nice to his number one baby (that's me).

The funny thing is that he can't just talk near my belly, he has to put his mouth on my stomach so that his breath tickles me and makes me itch. A few nights ago he decided the baby needed to hear some music, and since we were without a radio, Terry sang the only song he knows all the lyrics to...Ice, Ice, Baby.

The best part though, is when he does his impression of the baby in the womb. He holds his arms up as if they're floating, stares ahead and acts like he's bouncing off the sides of a big balloon.
