We wore pj's or Christmas clothes, or a combination of both. Mel pulled out some of her decorations so we even had a festive locale for the party.
We started with a big fajita meal...
which lead to all the guys sleeping (Uncle Bill was still at work at this point.)
Matthew even cuddled up with this Christmas bear.
And Dad just passed out with the remote(s).
We played with the dancing Santa that Adriah both loves and hates.
Then the kids opened the gift that their parents had brought for them.
This is Caleb throwing a tantrum because he wanted to open Micah's gift instead of his own.
Micah did eventually open his own gift. It was a talking Woody doll that he's been wanting for weeks. Think he looks excited though?
Caleb got this talking dinosaur that he loves and carries around the house now.
Adriah got some books and jewelry.
Next it was time for the adults to play the white elephant game.
Terry and Matthew ended up with gift cards.
Micah took this photo of all of us with our gifts. Our budget was only $15-20 but there was a lot of good stuff. Cooking stuff, an ottoman, books, games, dvds, etc.
In the end it was a successful event that I hope we keep as a tradition from now on. Any excuse to get together with family is a good one.
...Even if it did confuse Micah. We kept trying to get him to buy into our idea of "pretend Christmas."
