Alone Time

We're really working hard on spending purposeful one-on-one time with the boys. We've started splitting them up to do one thing each weekend. Because of shopping I had to do, the first trip was to Toys R Us. Caleb was like a dizzy bumblebee, the way he darted through aisles and ran from toy to toy. Once he found the puzzle section he knew immediately that he wanted a Toy Story puzzle. And then we spent the rest of our time letting him pretend to drive those insanely extravagant "toy" cars (if Papaw would like to buy one for all the kids to share and drive at his house, we wouldn't object...).

The next weekend it was Micah's turn and our day was a much different experience. First, it was lunch time, so we decided to add a lunch date to our outing. (Read the previous post to understand how "ok" with that we both were.) We ended up at Arby's because of some coupons floating around my purse. And he experiemented with all the different dips for his fries before deciding that a mix of each one was by far the tastiest.

Next stop was Toys R Us and, (you could blame it on full stomachs, but I think it's just his personality) that child walked the aisles just as slow as molasses. He wanted to play with everything before he could move on. He had to inspect it, pick it up, turn it over, and maybe even lick it, before he decided to get it or not. He was spending money from his piggy bank and he was very conservative about the way he spent (go Micah!), After a verrrrry long afternoon in this store, he chose (surprise, surprise!) a pirate play set.

It's really fun separating the boys and seeing how vastly different they are when they're alone. I hope we'll be able to sustain the tradition. It's so nice!
