Constant Entertainment

Everything Micah does is pretty darn funny.

He likes to play with laundry baskets. He gets them and the crates that hold toys on his shelf and he puts them on his head and walks around as if they're hats. He like to put things into other thing (toys into a shelf, books into a box). Sometimes he makes weird piles of things. He'll go into his room, get a toy, come back and set it in the middle of the living room. Then he'll go back to his room, grab another toy, bring it and set it on top of, or right beside the other toy. He'll keep that up till he has a nice stash of toys in the living room, and then he's off to another project.

When he wakes up he's usually content to play in his crib for at least ten minutes. By the time he calls for us to get him, he's thrown every blanket and stuffed animal (he sleeps with two of each) onto the ground. He also throws his pacifiers down, too. We keep them in a bag tied to his bed where he can get to them easily. And now that he knows they're off limits during awake time, I swear he throws them all from the bag on purpose, so that later he can crawl under his crib and get them.

When you go in to get him up from a nap, he jumps up and enthusiastically points to the monkey on the blanket hanging above his crib. He wants to hear you make the sound a monkey would make.

Sometimes he repeats your monkey sound but other times he'll do a lion or an elephant. When he does another animal you know he wants to be taken to the other wall where the animal appliques are so he can say hello.

His new thing is an obsession with a certain picture frame of Terry and I. He'll bring it to you and point back and forth between the two of us in the photo, waiting to hear you say, "Mommy. Daddy. Mommy, Daddy. Mommy. Daddy," as he points his finger back and forth.

If he's about to do something he knows is off limits, he'll turn around to see if anyone is looking. Sometimes a simple "no, " makes him stop. But occasionally it just makes him take action faster and then run off at top speed when he's done misbehaving.

He knows our night time routine by heart. All we have to say is "time to brush your teeth," and he runs to the bathroom. This is weird to me since he doesn't enjoy having his teeth brushed. Then we clean up his room, change into pjs, read a book, and pray. He goes through the routine calmly and happily. But lately he's figured out that praying is last on the agenda before bed. So, we'll all close our eyes, put our hands together, and he'll sit still during the prayer. But as soon as we say, "Amen," He tries to escape suddenly to avoid bedtime! But he doesn't move an inch till he hears that amen. So much patience for a 15 month old!
